Mice Pest Control is a rodent specialist working from Uxbridge, a short run from Ruislip, Ruislip Manor, South Ruislip, Eastcote and the surrounding HA4 streets. Mice and rats are all we handle, and sealing the way in is the core of what we do.
Why Ruislip properties get rodents
Ruislip is largely 1930s Metro-land: semi-detached and detached houses with pitched roofs, deep eaves, suspended timber ground floors and, in a lot of cases, later extensions. Those extensions are a recurring weak point. Where a rear extension meets the original back wall there is frequently an unsealed gap at the roof junction and another where the new floor slab meets the old wall, and both put a mouse straight into the cavity.
The loft is the other. A 1930s semi has a large, easily reached roof void, and the eaves detail on houses of that age often leaves a continuous open gap along the wall plate. Rats climb well, so a slipped tile or an open verge over an extension is enough. If you are hearing something heavy moving overhead at night rather than the light scurrying of a mouse, the loft is where to start.
Then there is the green edge. Ruislip Woods, the Lido, the golf courses and the large mature gardens characteristic of the area all support rodent populations that move towards buildings as autumn cools. Bird feeders, open compost heaps and the void under decking or a garden room bring them the last few metres.
How we deal with it
We survey the property before quoting, working out where the rodents are harbouring and how they are getting in, then treat with tamper-resistant bait stations, trapping, or both, depending on whether there are children, pets or food on site.
Proofing follows. Entry points are sealed with stainless steel wool, rodent mesh, metal plate and mortar rather than foam or sealant, which rodents chew through. Eaves and extension junctions are closed properly, and air bricks are meshed rather than blocked so the walls still ventilate. For a whole-property job inside and out with a follow-up inspection, see super-proofing.
Local, qualified, guaranteed
We are family run and fully insured, our technicians hold the RSPH (BPCA) Level 2 qualification, and every treatment carries a written guarantee. A free survey is available on request and we can often attend same day or next day in Ruislip.
