You will spend a lot of the job in loft voids, under floors and on ladders with a torch, looking for a gap the width of a biro lid. Mice get through smaller openings than most people believe, and finding the route in is the part of the job that decides whether the customer calls back in six weeks.

Trainee Pest Control Technician
No experience needed. Practical people who like working out how a building fails do well at this.
Base salary: GBP 26,000 to GBP 32,000 a year. Base pay only. On-target earnings are separate and explained below.
You start with a qualified technician and work towards the RSPH (BPCA) Level 2 Award in Pest Management while you are paid. Full training is provided.
The first skill is reading the evidence. Droppings tell you the species and roughly how long they have been there, smear marks tell you the runs, and gnawing tells you where they are getting through. Mouse or rat is not a guess, and the answer changes the whole approach.
The second is knowing when the answer is not more bait. Under the stewardship rules, professional rodenticides are a controlled tool used to a plan and matched to the scale of the problem, not a default. We train that properly.
Hours are 40 to 45 a week depending on the shift pattern. Home-based with a company van.

Experienced Pest Control Technician
For qualified technicians who would rather survey a building properly than run a bait round.
Base salary: GBP 30,000 to GBP 38,000 a year. Base pay only. On-target earnings are separate and explained below.
You will already know the treatment side. The work here is the survey: proving the entry route rather than guessing it, dealing with a terrace where the infestation is travelling between four addresses through a shared void, and being able to tell a customer honestly that the neighbouring property is the source.
A current RSPH (BPCA) Level 2 or equivalent and real treatment experience are expected. A lapsed ticket is fixable.
Commercial rodent work is a growing part of this and there is progression into it. Food premises, warehousing and multi-occupancy blocks all need someone who can write a defensible report as well as carry out the work.

Loft Insulation Installer
A trade role that is part of rodent work rather than separate from it. No experience needed, full training given.
Base salary: GBP 30,000 to GBP 35,000 a year. Base pay only. On-target earnings are separate and explained below.
A loft that has held a rodent infestation usually needs the insulation removed rather than treated. It is fouled, it is compacted into runs, and leaving it in place leaves the smell and the harbourage behind. Stripping it out, decontaminating the void and laying new insulation is the end of a lot of our jobs.
It is also where the proofing gets done. Once a loft is cleared you can actually see the wall plate, the eaves line and the gaps around service penetrations, which is the moment to seal them properly.
No previous experience is required and full training is provided. If you have worked in insulation, loft clearance or a related trade that helps, but we take people without it.
The work is physical, dusty and done in confined roof spaces. Full protective equipment is provided and required, and the decontamination side is trained rather than assumed.

Do I need experience to apply?
Not for the trainee technician or the loft insulation role. Both are listed as no-experience roles with full training provided, including the RSPH (BPCA) Level 2 Award in Pest Management where the role calls for it. The experienced technician role does expect a current qualification and hands-on survey and treatment experience.
Why is a loft insulation role on a pest control site?
Because on rodent jobs it is the same job. Insulation that has held an infestation is usually stripped out rather than treated, the void is decontaminated, the entry points are sealed while the loft is clear, and new insulation goes back. We recruit for it here rather than pretending it is a separate trade.
Where is the work based?
This brand works out of Uxbridge and covers West London, including Hillingdon, Ealing, Hayes, Ruislip, Greenford, Ickenham, West Drayton and Denham. You are home-based with a company van rather than travelling to a depot first.
What does the 40,000 figure mean?
It is on-target earnings: base salary plus overtime and commission. The band shown against each role is base pay by itself. We separate the two deliberately so nobody reads a total-earnings figure as a basic rate.
